Initial Placement on Salary Schedule. Current OTs and PTs initial placement on the salary schedule at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year will be at the Step that is equal to their current salary. If the current salary does not match a step, the employee will be placed at the next highest step. Any raises negotiated for the 2014-2015 shall be in addition to this initial placement.

Initial Placement on Salary Schedule. The initial placement of a new employee on the salary schedule shall be determined by the Employer based on the employee's prior experience, if any, and market considerations. The step at which the new employee shall be placed shall be determined by the Employer.
Initial Placement on Salary Schedule. 15.4.1 All new unit members shall be appointed at the hiring rate for the class as approved by the Personnel Commission. The hiring rate is normally the first step (Step A) of the salary range. Appointment of non-management employees shall be made at Step C of the appropriate range for the classification when the appointee has at least three years of comparable experience within the past ten years in a similar setting, if applicable. The Director of Human Resources shall evaluate the experience of all candidates for appointment at a higher step and make a decision regarding the placement. Initial Placement on Salary Schedule. The initial starting wage of a new employee shall be determined by the Board based on the new employee’s prior experience, and the available pool of applicants; provided, however, that absent substantial justification no new employee shall be placed at a rate higher than the highest rate of the range provided for the category for which they are hired. The hiring range for categories A-E is attached as Appendix A. The district shall notify the Union President in writing when a new employee’s initial salary exceeds the highest hire rate for that category as determined in Appendix A. A bargaining unit employee may request a review of his/her hourly wage by his/her administrator in the event a newly hired employee of the same category is hired at a rate higher than the current employee in the same position or category provided the employee requests such review within (12) twelve months of the new employee’s date of hire. The employee requesting such review shall have the right to meet with his/her administrator to discuss the reasons for the request. The employee may have a union representative present at such meeting. The administrator may recommend that the employee’s hourly wage be increased to match the newly hired employee’s wage, and such recommendation shall be retroactive to the new employee’s hire date.

New employees shall not be hired on an experience step higher than step six (6).
