Infectious Disease Control. A. The State shall provide all employees in twenty-four (24) hour institutions in-service training on infectious disease control. New employees, and current employees who have not received training, shall be provided training on infectious disease control.

Infectious Disease Control. A. The State shall provide in-service training in infectious disease control and isolation procedures on an annual basis utilizing the best guidelines available. Examples of guidelines the State may use are the Joint Advisory Notice issued by the Center for Disease Control. For licensed hospitals, such training shall be consistent with California Administrative Code Title 22. For other clinical settings, such training shall reflect the needs of the work environment.
Infectious Disease Control. The Employer shall continue to provide vaccinations and follow up lab work to employees at no cost according to its current practice.
Infectious Disease Control. In conjunction with the Health Protection Agency (HPA), Wolverhampton Council investigates all cases of actual or suspected food poisoning and food borne infectious disease. The response is determined by: - • The nature of the (suspected) illness • The number of cases • The nature of the employment of affected individuals • The previous record of implicated food businesses Outbreaks, as defined through agreement with the HPA’s Consultant in Communicable Disease Control, (CCDC) are responded to immediately. All are investigated with a view to further formal action if deemed appropriate. Approximately 260 - 300 individual cases are notified to the service every year. In an average year roughly 1% of these would be defined as outbreaks. In all cases implicating known food hazards the standards contained in the document ‘Food Handlers - Fitness to Work’ are observed. Consideration is being given to providing translated versions of the leaflets given to cases of infectious disease investigated by the service. A proportion of those cases investigated by the service are also sent a questionnaire asking to give their opinion of the service and advice given by the investigating officer. To date, the results indicate a high level of satisfaction with the service.
Infectious Disease Control. Respond to requests from Department of Human Services to investigate cases of infectious disease and implement appropriate action. • Consult with and advise Medical Practitioners as appropriate, in the investigation and control of infectious diseases. • Comply with all instructions issued by Council’s Medical Officer of Health regarding health and welfare matters. • As required, participate in the monitoring of mosquito activity and control across the local area. • Liaise with officers from appropriate Government Departments and provide appropriate advice and/or direction where necessary. Environmental Nuisances and Pest Control • Exercise the delegate powers as a duly authorised officer under the Local Government Act and the Health Act and attend to all complaints received referring to alleged nuisances and pest infestations, affecting investigations necessary and initiate appropriate action to correct the cause of complaint. Domestic On Site Sewerage Systems • Administer the Septic Tank Code of Practice in relation to septic tank installations. • Exercise the delegated powers under the provision of the Environmental Protection Act, 1970 in respect of domestic sewerage systems. • Participate in an ongoing program of inspections of existing septic tanks and other domestic sewerage treatment systems as directed. • Contribute to and participate in the implementation of the Indigo Domestic Wastewater Management Plan. • Provide advice and recommendations regarding the suitability of proposed developments necessitating liquid waste disposal other than by reticulated sewerage. • Respond to complaints received concerning septic tank installations and assist with the resolution of problems by the provision of advice and/or direction. Provide information and guidelines to landowners, plumbers and builders on an over the counter basis where possible. Administration and Finance • Assist with the preparation of annual reports required by Department of Human Services, the Environment Protection Authority, Mount Hotham Resort Management, Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management and as required / directed by the Team Leader Building Services and Environmental Health or the Manager Planning and Sustainable Development. • Assist with preparation of appropriate applications for subsidies and grants appropriate to this service area. • Assist with preparation of reports to the Municipal Association of Victoria regarding activities under the Tobacco Act, 1987.

To achieve this objective, the Joint Health and Safety Committee may review and offer input into infection control programs and protocols including surveillance, outbreak control, isolation, precautions, worker education and training, and personal protective equipment. The Employer will provide training and ongoing education in communicable disease recognition, use of personal protective equipment, decontamination of equipment, and disposal of hazardous waste.
