Incidental Work. Incidental work is a comparatively minor task that is complementary to a principal job. In determining whether a task is incidental and thus properly assignable to the tradespersons performing the principal job, the following points must be considered (past practice or normal scope of the trade has no significance in incidental work): • Time involved in relation to the principal job. (A minor task or series of minor tasks performed sporadically over the duration of the principal job are incidental even though the cumulative time may be fairly large.) • Whether the task is within the capabilities of the principal tradesperson. • Whether the task can safely be performed by the principal tradesperson. Incidental tasks are not limited to those arising in the course of the principal job, but may occur also at the beginning or end of the job.
Incidental Work. It is expressly understood and agreed that Consultant shall perform all incidental work required to complete the Services as described by Task Orders, including work for which no specific proposal item(s) was/were included, and/or including work which is required to furnish final, finished and detailed Work consistent with and fulfilling the intent of the Contract Documents. Incidental Work. A. Unless specifically excepted in the Bid or Technical Specifications, incidental work items for which separate payment is not measured includes, but is not limited to, the following items:
Incidental Work. At all locations, including the maintenance shops as well as at running repair work locations, where a craft or crafts are performing a work assignment, the completion of which calls for the performance of “incidental work” (as hereinafter defined) covered by the classification of work rules of another craft or crafts, such craft or crafts may be required so far as they are capable, to perform such incidental work provided it does not comprise a preponderant part of the total amount of the work involved in the assignment. Work shall be regarded as “incidental” when it involves the removal, replacing, loosening or the disconnecting and connecting of parts and appliances such as electrical wires, piping, covers, shielding and other appurtenances, except for the connecting and disconnecting traction and auxiliary motors (other than plug in cooling fans), during the course of the main work assignment in order to accomplish that assignment. Incidental work shall be considered to comprise a preponderant part of the assignment when the time normally required to accomplish it exceeds the time normally required to accomplish the main work assignment. If there is a dispute as to whether or not work comprises a “preponderant part” of the work assignment, NJT Rail may nevertheless assign the work as it feels it should be assigned and proceed with the work and assignment in question and the Union may process the matter as a grievance under this Agreement. The Shop Committee may request that the assignment be timed by the parties to determine whether or not the time required to perform the incidental work exceeds the time required to perform the main work assignment.
