ILLNESS-INJURY-DEATH. In the event of injury to, or illness of, the unit member during the Educational Sabbatical Leave which prevents completion of the purpose of the leave, the Educational Sabbatical Leave will be terminated and provisions for sick leave shall apply. If upon return to service and prior to completion of the two obligatory years of service, should there be an illness or injury qualifying the unit member for disability retirement, such illness or injury shall exempt him/her from further obligations relative to that Educational Sabbatical Leave. If death prevents the unit member from fulfilling his/her agreement to return service in the District, no repayment of salary shall be required.
