HOURS OF WORK AND WAGES. Section A. The employer reserves the right to determine the schedule and the hours of work. However, in no event shall employees be assigned a permanent schedule that, if annualized, would exceed 2935 hours per year. If the employer changes its schedule so that the employee is permanently scheduled to work less than 2600 hours per year then the hourly wage rate for that employee will be adjusted as follows: The appropriate hourly wage rate shown in the wage table in Section B multiplied by 2600 and divided by the annual total of hours to be worked in the new schedule.

Any such new work schedules shall provide for an average forty (40) hour basic work week, except where such schedule is due to a reduced work hour requirement under Article 11. The introduction of such new work schedules shall be discussed with the Union as far in advance as is practicable, but in any event, at least thirty (30) days notice shall be given of any anticipated change. In the event of a crew reassignment at least fourteen (14) days notice shall be given of any anticipated change. In a Monday through Friday eight (8) hour, three (3) shift operation, any classification that does not have an employee that bids or volunteers for steady midnights, then that classification shall be a rotating three (3) shift operation. Nothing in this section shall constitute a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week. Employees will be paid bi-weekly effective January, 2010. Subject to approval, “short/shift” and “shift trades” and rotations will be permitted provide the employees are qualified of performing the duties. The onus is on the employee to ensure that they have not booked vacation for the period of which the trade has been scheduled. HOURS OF WORK AND WAGES. 13.01 (a) Full-time employees will be scheduled to work fifty-six (56) hours bi- weekly. The employer will endeavour to schedule Part-time employees to a minimum of 28 hours bi- weekly, but this shall not be construed as a guarantee of work or hours of work in the eventuality that the employer must reduce the schedule. All employees shall have a one hour unpaid lunchbreak halfway through and a fifteen minute paid rest period at the mid-point of each half shift. Weekend and Holiday shifts shall be distributed equally amongst all employees.
HOURS OF WORK AND WAGES. 5.1 Working Schedules Work schedules are defined as an employee's assigned hours, days of the week, and days off. Schedules for all employees shall be posted five (5) days in advance except in emergency circumstances. Whenever possible, the District will provide twenty-four (24) hours notice prior to requiring work outside the normal work schedule. Nothing in this agreement constitutes a minimum guarantee of work for an employee. Nothing herein shall prevent the District and employee from mutually agreeing to a flexible schedule outside the normally scheduled hours. Mandatory attendance at meetings shall be considered as hours worked. All eleven (11) month employees will be allowed to take their unpaid leave with approval of their supervisor. When assigning part time custodians additional temporary work (substituting for full time custodians) the District shall make a good faith effort to equalize the work among part time custodians in the building. Bus drivers employed for ten (10) months per year will be paid over twelve (12) monthly installments.

For the duration of this agreement, the current Day Afternoon production rotation shift, and the straight midnight production shift shall remain in effect so long as there is not a decline in the production operations. Should there be a decline in the production requirements that will affect the staffing requirements of the shifts, the Company shall advise the Union with at least ten days written notice of its intent to change the rotation. The Company agrees to consult with the Union as to the changes, and any adverse effect that the decline in the production requirements may have on the current designated shifts. The daily schedule of working hours shall be as designated by the Company. The Company does not guarantee to provide work to any Employee for regularly assigned hours or for any hours.
