HOURS OF WORK AND PREMIUM PAY. 9.1 The normal period of work which a member is required to perform in a period of eight (8) consecutive days shall be four (4) twelve (12) hour tours of duty. A member who performs his duties in one (1) period of twelve (12) consecutive hours shall, where the requirements of the service permit, be allowed two forty- five (45) minute lunch breaks. One forty-five (45) minute break during the first six (6) hours of the tour of duty and one forty-five (45) minute break during the second six (6) hours of the tour of duty. Where a member is unable to take the first forty-five (45) minute break due to the exigencies of the service he shall receive one and one-half (1-1/2) hours during the second six (6) hours of his tour of duty subject to the exigencies of the service. If a member does not receive at least one (1) hour for lunch during his twelve (12) hour tour of duty, he shall be compensated for any lost time at straight time rates. Further, a member on maternity leave shall be deemed to be working a normal forty (40) hour work week.

Premium pay in the form of cash or compensatory time off, at one and one-half (1 1/2) times the base rate, shall be paid for hours worked or taken as paid leave in excess of the normal schedule cycle as a proportion of the normal work year. Premium pay shall be earned for hours worked in excess of the normal schedule day unless such hours are necessary to develop the required hours in the normal schedule cycle, again, based on a normal work year of 2,080 hours. Employees shall receive the two (2) hour minimum at the overtime rate to attend mandatory meetings on a regularly scheduled day off or on an approved time off. Employees shall be entitled to bank up to one hundred twenty (120) hours of compensatory time for later use.
