Hours and Schedules Sample Clauses
The "Hours and Schedules" clause defines the specific working hours and days during which an employee or contractor is expected to perform their duties. It typically outlines the start and end times for each workday, the total number of hours to be worked per week, and may address flexibility, overtime, or shift arrangements. By clearly establishing when work is to be performed, this clause helps prevent misunderstandings about availability and ensures both parties have aligned expectations regarding time commitments.
Hours and Schedules. A. The workday shall consist of five consecutive days, normally Monday through Friday.
B. The District shall compensate at time and one-half employees working more than eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week. In accordance with ORS 279.340, the Association agrees that Community School night supervisors and programmers and any employee assigned to a 4/10 schedule (four days per week, 10 hours per day) are specifically exempted from the eight (8) hour overtime requirement and shall be paid overtime only if actual hours worked during the work week exceed 40 hours or ten hours per day. Overtime work is voluntary, except in the case of an emergency, and will not be allowed without prior authorization from the employee’s supervisor. Compensatory time may be granted in lieu of overtime pay upon mutual agreement between the District and the employee. Employees will not be allowed to accrue more than three compensatory days unless pre-authorized by the District. Carry-over from year to year will not be allowed, except under special circumstances, and pre- approved by the District. Compensatory time that is not used, or approved for carry- over, will be paid out to the employee. Payroll will keep a record of compensatory time accrued by each employee. In the event that sufficient personnel do not accept offered overtime, additional personnel as necessary may be required to work overtime on an assigned basis. In case of an emergency, the District expects regular employees to work overtime as assigned. Each employee shall receive a 15-minute break during each four hours of continuous work. Employees working more than four hours per day shall receive a duty-free unpaid lunch of at least one-half hour.
C. Cooks will work, at a minimum, each school day when meals are served to students. Additional work days may be assigned by the District supervisor.
Hours and Schedules. Par. 1 Eight (8) consecutive hours shall constitute a day's work and forty (40) hours shall constitute a week's work. Time and one-half shall be paid in cash for hours worked over eight (8) hours in one (1) day or over for forty (40) hours in any workweek. Policies of the Board of Trustees and the University Rules of Northern Illinois University shall be followed in the establishment of a basic workweek.
Par. 2 The greater part of the shift worked on a calendar day will determine which day will be considered as being worked. For example, a shift starting at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night and running to 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning will be considered as being worked on Wednesday. If the times are equal, the starting date will determine the day worked.
Par. 3 An employee's work schedule (shift) will not be changed more than once within the employee's workweek. Return to an employee's bid and regular work shift shall not constitute a change.
Par. 4 Except in emergency situations, whenever work schedules are changed, written notice of such change shall be posted in the East and West Heating Plant at least forty- eight (48) hours before such changes become effective. Time worked as the result of a schedule change when notice is less than forty-eight (48) hours shall be paid at the appropriate premium rate. It is the responsibility of the employee to know each month how many hours to do (hereafter called hours specified ) and to do all the hours specified as indicated in the master schedule or as given verbally to the employee by a supervisor. A schedule should be made at the beginning of each month and submitted to the employee’s supervisor. Work with other employees when making up the schedule to avoid conflicts. It is the responsibility of the employee to create a schedule every month based on the number of clients, their work, school, day program schedules, and the hours specified available to the employee. Hours should be spread out over the month and should not be done in one day or one week, but rather spread out so that the client obtains the optimum benefit form contact with the employee. The employee is not compensated for doing under the number of hours specified without prior approval and will receive a writeup if no approval is obtained prior to doing this.

The employee shall be granted a duty free meal break (sometime around mid- day or mid-shift), the length and scheduling of which will be determined through mutual agreement with the employee and their immediate supervisor. The meal break shall be normally without pay unless established otherwise by the Employer.
3. A regular workweek shall normally consist of five (5) regular work days, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours. The regular workweek is not the workweek designation required by the FLSA.
4. A designated workweek shall normally consist of 40 hours composed of any five (5) consecutive work days, immediately followed by two (2) days off.
5. The Employer may establish an alternate work schedule wherein 40 hours may be worked as straight time in other than five (5) days or eight (8) continuous hour days. Alternate schedules shall be established in writing and must be approved in advance by the Human Resources Director, or designee.

Each hour after two (2) hours shall be paid at time and one half their regular rate of pay, providing the employee has exceeded 40 hours of regular time. It is understood that this provision does not apply to overtime work, which is essentially a continuation of the workday, scheduled weekend overtime, scheduled staff meetings, or scheduled training sessions.

An employee’s direct supervisor must approve, in advance, any change to the employee’s regular work schedule.
18.2 Employees are expected to work during their normal business hours, including in office when required. For example, an employee is entitled to one ten-minute rest period if the employee works 3.5 continuous hours; two 10-minute rest periods if the employee works at least seven continuous hours and less than 11 continuous hours; and three ten- minute rest periods if the employee works at least 11 continuous hours and less than 15 continuous hours. Rest periods should be taken in the middle of each work period insofar as is practicable. An employee may voluntarily agree to waive any meal or rest period.
