Horizontal Placement. 2.2.1 The District shall only grant credit for initial horizontal placement based on earned undergraduate or graduate credit which is granted by an institution of higher education accredited by the North Central Association or by a comparable accredited agency, and which is based on traditional requirements for the earning of credit including, but not limited to, class attendance, out-of-class preparation, and successful completion of the course.

Horizontal Placement. A teacher shall be initially placed in columns beyond BA and MA columns based on written agreement between the Superintendent and teacher as to which credits are germane to the teaching assignment. This agreement shall be reduced to writing and shall become part of the teacher's personnel file. Additional credits to be used for lane placement shall be in accordance with the rules following. Such rules shall not deprive any teacher of any salary schedule placement already recognized and actually being paid. Notwithstanding the above, if a teacher who retired from the Mahtomedi School District is rehired, the teacher shall be placed on the lane he/she was on as of the effective date of his/her retirement.

Horizontal Placement. Horizontal lane placement for each school term shall be determined by the number of credit hours earned as of September 1st of the school term. Evaluation of credits shall be on the basis of official transcript issued by a recognized college or university. Credit hours for advancement to any lane beyond the MA lane must be earned after the award of the MA and all credit hours used for any lane advancement must have the prior approval of the Superintendent.
