Holiday Time Off. When a holiday falls on an employee's day off, the employee shall receive an additional day off, or proportionate time off (based on the percentage time of appointment), as agreed upon between the employee and the supervisor.

Holiday Time Off. All Command Officers in the department will normally be scheduled to work holidays when a part of their normal shift schedules. Up to two holidays per year for each Command Officer may be traded by the officer for two days off with regular pay to be scheduled by the Chief as available and taking the officer's desired dates into consideration. An officer may elect to work any day which has been scheduled as a traded day off if at least one week's written notice is given to the supervisor and the office of the Chief.
Holiday Time Off. When a holiday occurring on a work day falls on an employee's regularly scheduled day off, they shall receive an alternate day off or shall receive cash compensation for the holiday at the straight time hourly rate at the option of the employee. Either option is based on the employee’s percentage time of appointment. The alternate day off shall be at a time selected by the employee with the approval of the supervisor, which shall not be unreasonably denied. If, however, it is necessary to limit the number of employees who take the alternate day at the same time within a work location, the choice of the alternate day shall be awarded on the basis of classification seniority within the work location.

The member is entitled to eight hours of holiday pay and no deduction shall occur from the member’s compensatory time. Per established practice, approval of the compensatory time request is conditioned upon the timely submittal of the leave request and another member signing up to work the hours in place of the member requesting the compensatory time off.
Holiday Time Off. When a holiday falls on the first day of an employee's regularly scheduled days off, it shall be celebrated on the previous day; and when a holiday falls on the second day of an employee's regularly scheduled days off, it shall be celebrated on the following day. If the four (4) ten-hour day work week necessitates more than a two-day weekend, a holiday which falls on either of the first two days shall be celebrated on the last previous work day; and a holiday which falls on any other day of such days off shall be celebrated on the next subsequent work day. Part-time employees shall not be compensated for holidays; however, they shall be paid for work performed on a holiday at the rate set forth in this Article. For each holiday observed on an employee's work day, said employee will be excused from work on such day, if feasible. If one of the listed holidays occurs while an employee is on vacation leave, such day shall not be charged against vacation leave.

Holiday Time Off a. All covered employees recognize that the City intends to close City Hall, the City’s Public Works Yard, and the City’s Fleet Shop for the work days between the observed Christmas holiday and the observed New Years’ Eve holiday in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. In 2019, these dates are December 26, 27 and 30. In 2020, these dates are December 28, 29 and 30. In 2021, these dates are December 27, 28, 29 and 30. In 2022, these dates are December 26, 27, 28, and 29. All covered employees will generally be required to use vacation leave during this time.
Holiday Time Off. Except as provided in Section 6 of this Article, an Employee will accrue 8.0 hours of Holiday Time Off when assigned to a workweek of 40.0 hours for each observed holiday.
