HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 265. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above designated or observed holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time-and-one-half the usual rate (i.e. 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked) or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked. At the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to the provisions herein. 266. Employees whose holidays are changed because of shift rotations shall be allowed another day off if a legal holiday falls on one of their days off. These paid days off accrued in lieu of holidays may be carried over to the next fiscal year. Employees regularly scheduled to work on a holiday which falls on a Saturday or Sunday shall observe the holiday on the day it occurs, or if required to work, shall receive holiday compensation for work on that day. Holiday compensation shall not be paid for work on the Friday preceding a Saturday holiday nor on the Monday following a Sunday holiday.
