HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 102. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time and one-half the usual rate in the amount of 12 hours pay for eight hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than eight hours worked, provided, however, that at the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to the provisions herein. 103. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.

Employees required by their respective City representative to work on any of the above- specified or to substitute holidays excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid for the legal holiday plus extra compensation of one (1) additional day’s pay at time and one-half (1-1/2) the usual rate in the amount of twelve (12) hours’ pay for eight (8) hours worked or a proportionate amount of less than eight (8) hours worked; provided, however, that at an employee’s request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime. 361. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated with the “Z” symbol and who the City believes are exempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one and one-half (1½) times for work on the holiday.

Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday. HOLIDAYS FOR EMPLOYEES ON WORK SCHEDULES OTHER THAN MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 267. Employees assigned to seven-day operation departments or employees working a five-day work week other than Monday through Friday shall be allowed another day off if a holiday falls on one of their regularly scheduled days off. Employees whose holidays are changed because of shift rotations shall be allowed another day off if a legal holiday falls on one of their days off. These paid days off accrued in lieu of holidays may be carried over to the next fiscal year. Employees regularly scheduled to work on a holiday which falls on a Saturday or Sunday shall observe the holiday on the day it occurs, or if required to work, shall receive holiday compensation for work on that day. Holiday compensation shall not be paid for work on the Friday preceding a Saturday holiday nor on the Monday following a Sunday holiday.

Employees occupying positions which are exempt from the FLSA (Executive, Administrative and Professional) shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.
HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 178. Employees assigned to work on a holiday shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but shall be allowed another day off, within the fiscal year earned, as scheduled by mutual agreement. This time off cannot be “cashed-out” or carried into the new year.

FLOATING HOLIDAYS Eligible employees are granted three (3) floating holidays in each fiscal year to be taken on days selected by the employee subject to prior scheduling approval of the Appointing Officer. Employees (both full-time and part-time) must complete six (6) months’ continuous service to establish initial eligibility for the floating holidays. Employees hired on an as-needed, intermittent or seasonal basis shall not receive the additional floating holidays. Floating holidays may not be carried forward from one fiscal year to the next except with the approval of the Appointing Officer. No compensation of any kind shall be earned or granted for floating holidays not taken.
HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED. 450. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above-specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) the usual rate of pay for all regularly scheduled hours worked; provided, however, that at an employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime at the rate of time and one-half (1 1/2). 451. From June 30, 2009 through September 6, 2010, non-“Z” employees will continue to be eligible to earn holiday pay (HP) at the one-and-one-half time rate if they work on the holiday, but will not earn legal holiday compensation (LH) for the aforementioned unpaid legal holidays. 452. Ten (10) and twelve (12) hour employees shall receive full holiday compensation for the regularly scheduled shift worked on a holiday. 453. No designated "Z" employee shall receive overtime pay for working on a holiday. All such overtime shall be compensated in the form of compensatory time accrued. Provided however that “Z” employees may, at the end of each fiscal year, choose to receive a cash payment in lieu of accrued compensatory time for each holiday worked during the fiscal year.
