Higher Duties Payment. An employee who is called upon to perform work at a level above their current classified level for a period of more than two days, shall be paid at the minimum rate prescribed for that higher level for the whole period involved on such higher level duties.

In recognition that UAL’s objective is to create a more flexible and skilled work force, from time to time employees may undertake work at a higher duty subject to safety and competence. For periods of less than two (2) hours; the higher duties payment will not be paid and will be considered as career development. For periods of two (2) hours or more; a higher duties payment will be paid to an employee who has been authorised by Management to undertake the duties of a higher classification for the hours worked at the higher duties.
Higher Duties Payment. An employee appointed to a role with higher responsibilities, such as a Leading Hand or acting Supervisor, will be paid the following additional fortnightly amounts for each shift worked in such a role. The appointment and continued appointment to these roles is at the discretion of the Company and will be by agreement with the employee. The employee will only be entitled to receive this payment for a minimum of one complete shift worked in the role with higher responsibilities. Part shifts will not attract the Higher Duties Payment. An employee who receives the higher duties allowance on a permanent and ongoing basis (i.e. appointed to Higher Duties on an annual basis) is not entitled to receive the Trainer and Assessor Allowance. Higher Duties Payment. 5.5.1 An employee who is required and directed by the employer to perform the duties of a position with a higher classification for a period in excess of two (2) days shall receive a higher duties allowance.

Where any person on any one day relieves at a higher grade, to which a differential rate fixed by this Agreement is applicable, such person, if employed for more than 4 hours on the grade carrying the higher rate, shall be paid in respect of the whole time during which the employee works on that day at the same rate, which shall be at the highest rate fixed by this Agreement in respect of any such grade of work, and if employed for 4 hours or less on the grade carrying a higher rate, the employee shall be paid at such highest rate for 4 hours. .
