High School Department Chairs. High School Department Chairs shall be elected annually by the teachers of the department. The District and TTA have established a procedure for selection of High School Department Chairs which is available at comprehensive high school sites and the TUSD Human Resources Department.
High School Department Chairs a. High school department chairpersons shall be compensated according to the following formula:
High School Department Chairs. Department Chairs are not administrative positions and will remain as members of the Yorkville Education Association. All Department Chairs must meet the evaluation training requirements, as defined in the Illinois School Code, prior to conducting any teacher evaluation. Department Chairs, with the exception of Special Education, will continue to have teaching responsibilities, which will be determined by the size of the department and District initiatives that directly affect the department. In the event that the Special Education Department Chair is needed to fulfill teaching responsibilities, the President of the Association and the Superintendent or designee will collaboratively determine the appropriate amount of teaching responsibilities. Those responsibilities will not exceed responsibilities comparative to other departments. When a decision is not mutually agreed upon, the Superintendent will make the final determination. Department Chairs will not have an assigned teacher duty. Department Chairs will only be involved in the formative evaluation process of department members. Summative evaluation of department members will be the responsibility of the building administration in collaboration with Department Chairs. Department Chairs will be compensated with a co-curricular stipend. Department Chairs may be expected to work up to ten (10) days outside of the regular teacher attendance days. Compensation of additional days will be paid at the teacher’s per diem.
High School Department Chairs. A committee shall be formed in the 2020-2021 school year made up of the superintendent/designee, four (4) administrators, the ATA President, and four (4) bargaining unit members selected by the ATA President to develop the Department Chair positions. This committee shall finalize job descriptions, selection process, and salary levels prior to August 10, 2021. It is the intention of this committee that the positions be filled for the 2021-2022 school year.
High School Department Chairs. 25 1) Each comprehensive high school will be assigned ten (10) Level I and five (5) Level 26 II chair positions. Each continuation high school will be assigned five (5) Levels I 27 chair positions. In addition, a school will receive an additional Level I chair position 28 for each one hundred (100) students over one thousand (1000) students based on 29 the prior year’s P-2 attendance report.
