Common use of Health Leave Clause in Contracts

Health Leave. A health leave may be granted to a permanent unit member for a definite period of time upon submission of a physician's statement of incapacity to perform the duties and responsibilities of a unit member. A health leave may be granted either following exhaustion of paid sick leave (see Section 10.2.8.) or independently of a prior paid sick leave. A health leave may be granted for the balance of an academic school year and may be extended by application upon submission of a physician's statement of incapacity on a year-to-year basis for a total period not exceeding five (5) additional academic school years.
