Do not return unused chemicals to original container. Use only rubber bulb or pipet pump to fill pipets. Handle acids with extreme care. Wear gloves when handling. Always add acid to water. Never dispense flammable liquids near an open flame or heat source. Never take any lab materials out of lab. Take care when transporting any chemicals. Use both hands and walk carefully. HANDLING GLASSWARE AND EQUIPMENT Never handle broken glass with bare hands. Use a broom and dustpan to clean up glass. Place glass in designated waste glass container. Use wash bottles ONLY as intended...e.g. rinsing glassware or adding water to a container. Remove electrical plugs by grasping plug not the cord. Examine glassware before each use for cracks and chips. Dispose chipped glassware as directed. Report all damaged electrical equipment...frayed cords, exposed wires, etc. Do not immerse hot glassware in cold water...it may shatter.
HANDLING CHEMICALS. (a) Employees loading, unloading, stacking or carrying cement, lime or alum in bags or handling empty cement, lime or alum bags, or working on the maintenance of alum or lime machines, will be paid 87 cents per hour over ordinary rates up to four (4) hours.
