Grievance Deemed Abandoned. 11.6 If a grievor fails to initiate or process a grievance within the time limits prescribed in this article, the grievance shall be deemed to be abandoned, and all rights of recourse to the grievance and arbitration procedures under this Collective Agreement shall be at an end. If the respondent fails to reply to a grievance within the prescribed time limits, the grievance may be processed to the next step. The parties may, by agreement in writing, extend the time limits, providing such extension is requested prior to the expiry of the time allowed.

Grievance Deemed Abandoned. Failing settlement under the foregoing procedure of any grievance between the parties arising from the interpretation, application, administration or alleged violation of this Agreement, including any question as to whether a matter is arbitral, such grievances may be submitted to arbitration as hereinafter provided. If no written request for arbitration is received within thirty (30) calendar days after the decision under Step No. 3 is given, the grievance shall be deemed to have been abandoned.
