Green Waste. ‘Green Waste’ means non-contaminated material composed of organic matter or plant matter which is the result of seasonal variations or landscape and gardening activities. Green waste includes, without limitation, grass clippings, shrubbery, leaves, tree trimmings, branches, flowers, plant stalks, wood and other plant material. Green Waste does not include stumps or branches exceeding six inches (6") in diameter or four feet (4') in length.

Green Waste. Any vegetative matter resulting from normal yard and landscaping maintenance that is not more than three (3) feet in its longest dimension or six (6) inches in diameter and fits in the Container utilized by the Customer. Green Waste includes plant debris, such as, ivy, grass clippings, leaves, pruning, weeds, branches, brush, holiday trees, and other forms of vegetative waste and must be generated by and at the Customer’s premises and segregated by the generator and placed in a container for Collection and Processing. Green Waste does not include items herein defined as Excluded Materials.

Green Waste. The Contractor shall label each Residential and Commercial Green Waste Container to include an imprint or decal identifying that the Container is for “Green Waste,” the Contractor’s logo, and the Contractor’s firm name and telephone number. Such decals shall be replaced as needed to provide that the information is legible. Location. The labeling shall be positioned on each Container so it is visible to the Customer and Collection vehicle drivers on the front side and top. The labeling shall be durable and weather resistant to outdoor conditions and have a minimum ten (10) year lifetime. All Containers shall prominently display information and graphics agreed upon by County and the Contractor. Final Container labeling layout, graphics and text shall be approved by the County prior to distribution to Customers.
Green Waste. The Mad River Compost Facility, located on West End Road outside the city limits of Arcata, CA, is managed by HWMA under a services agreement. Mad River Compost Facility is permitted to accept green materials only and approximately 5,000 tons per year is received. The following table outlines HWMA’s contractual agreements relative to Mad River Compost Facility. Table A.3 Agreements Relative to Mad River Compost Facility Property Lease Agreement HWMA leases approximately three acres from Mad River Hardwoods Inc. on the north-eastern outskirts of Arcata, adjacent to Xxx Xxxxx Landscaping. The site has been improved by HWMA, and HWMA has an option to purchase the real property. The lease is currently month-to-month. Drop-Off Facility HWMA contracts with Mad River Hardwoods Inc. to operate the drop-off facility. HWMA reviews customer drop off activity at the compost facility and invoices Mad River Hardwoods at $90/ton. This agreement expires June 30, 2013. Processing HWMA contracts with Mad River Hardwoods Inc. to process green waste delivered to the facility. HWMA pays Mad River Hardwoods a $50/ton green waste handling and processing fee. Mad River Hardwoods Inc. is permitted to market the finished material. HWMA does not receive any proceeds from the marketing of finished compost. The agreement expires on June 30, 2013; however, the agreement will automatically renew for a seven-year term, unless Mad River Hardwoods is in violation of the provisions of the agreement or does not opt to renew.

Green Waste does not include items herein 231 defined as Exempt Waste
Green Waste. If, during the Term of this Agreement, the City elects to provide additional services related to Curbside collection of Green Waste from Residences, or should such services become required by application of state law or local ordinance, the terms of Exhibit H shall apply. Contractor will be the party with the exclusive right to collect Green Waste in the City Service Area. As of the Effective Date of this Agreement, the Contractor is not providing a Green Waste collection services to Residential Customers in the Service Area.

Green Waste. The Contractor shall compost all appropriate green waste removed from City landscape areas at an approved facility where green waste is converted to a usable soil amendment. If any compost is used in the execution of the landscape maintenance contract, it must be from a facility that receives and composts City of Coachella green waste. Said products shall be approved by the Public Works Director or his designee before use. The Contractor shall submit verification of recycling City of Coachella green waste as part of the Contractor’s monthly report.
Green Waste. Each single family dwelling will receive a 96-gallon cart for green waste collection. Customers may request one additional green waste cart at no additional charge. On a weekly basis the carts will be serviced on the same day as regular garbage pick up at the curb. An automation collection vehicle, using an extendable arm, will grasp the cart and tip the contents into the body of the vehicle. Allied Waste will provide a 32-gallon green waste cart for those customers with special needs such as disability or storage limitations. This option will not be an advertised service, but provided on a case by case as needed basis. Drivers will provide special consideration for on-premises service as described below (i.e. seniors, disabled). All material must fit inside the cart with the lid closed. No material will be collected from outside the cart without prior arrangements. Guidelines for collection are: • Place green waste directly into the cart. • Do not bag or place green waste in any container before placing it in the cart. • Place the cart on the street in front of the curb for street side pickup. • Face the cart's front out to the street. • Leave at least two feet of clear space on either side of the cart. Keep cart away from any mailboxes, carts or cars. Acceptable green waste material: • Grass clippings • Brush • Weeds and leaves • Hay and straw • Prunings • Tree trimmings • Tree branches 6 inches or less in diameter and 3 feet or less in length Unacceptable green waste material: • Plastic bags • Rocks or concrete • Sod and dirt • Loose fruits and vegetables • Tree trunks, stumps, palm fronds • Branches more than 6 inches in diameter or more than 3 feet in length • Pet waste All contaminated containers will be tagged for customer education purposes. Contaminated green waste carts will be serviced as garbage for a fee as specified in Exhibit B. Contractor and City Manager may modify this list of acceptable and non-acceptable green waste materials in response to changes in market conditions, availability of composting or processing facilities, and changes in technology. Green Waste. Green waste service will be provided to all complexes and individuals in multifamily complexes unless the City determines otherwise. Carts or drop boxes will be used. The City of Pleasant Hill reserves the right to review service criteria (space limitations, impractical service, lack of recycle material, lack of commitment to separate material from solid waste) and approve any exemptions from the program. Allied Waste will work with all multifamily customers to maximize green waste services and minimize additional overall cost of service.
