Granting of Vacation Requests. The County is entitled to determine the number of employees who are entitled to take vacations at any given time, however, vacation requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Preference for vacations will be given in order of bargaining-unit-wide seniority. Granting of vacation requests during the Christmas/New Year period shall be subject to Article 14.03 (e).

Granting of Vacation Requests. Approval of vacation requests for those employees who have requested five (5) consecutive working days’ vacation or more during this period will be granted in order of seniority. After having satisfied such vacation requests to the extent possible, approval of vacation requests of less than five (5) consecutive working days during the same period will be granted in order of seniority. Employees will submit their vacation request in advance and the Department Managers or designates will advise the employees of the granting of such requests in accordance with the following time table:

Approval of vacation requests for the period beginning December 23 to January 3 of the following calendar year will be granted subject to the requirements of Article L.5.1(g). Under extenuating circumstances employees may request to have an approved vacation period rescheduled.

Vacation requests for the period beginning June 1st to September 30th will be confirmed no later than April 15th. Approval of vacation requests for the period beginning December 23 to January 3 of the following calendar year will be granted subject to the requirements of Article L.5.1(g). Approval of vacation requests for the period beginning April 1 and ending on May 31 are to be submitted no later than December 1st of the previous vacation year and shall be granted no later than eight (8) weeks prior to the beginning of the requested vacation period. Approval of such requests will be granted on the basis of seniority. Under extenuating circumstances employees may request to have an approved vacation period rescheduled.

The Hospital is entitled to determine the number of employees who are entitled to take vacations at any given time, however, vacation requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Preference for vacations will be given in order of bargaining-unit-wide seniority in each classification within each department, unit or division, up to a maximum of three (3) weeks' (1 working days) vacation. These will be granted to all employees in order of seniority before further vacation requests are granted to employees with greater seniority. However, where vacation requests of more than three (3) weeks during this period do not conflict with other vacation requests more than three (3) weeks' vacation may be granted to the extent practicable. Granting of vacation requests during the Year period shall be subject to Article Nursing Service Department Bargaining Unit Seniority For vacation scheduling purposes only departmental seniority in the Nursing Service Department will be defined as bargaining unit seniority within a designated working unit. Working unit subdivisions of the Nursing Department will be designated by the Hospital for vacation scheduling purposes. Where it becomes necessary to alter the working unit, such alteration will not prejudice an employee's previously authorized vacation schedule. Ambulance Divisions Seniority For scheduling purposes' the bargaining unit seniority within the Ambulance Department shall be defined as the bargaining unit seniority within each division.
