Granting of Special leave. (a) Leave for compassionate reasons shall be granted up to a maximum of five (5) instructional days, upon the serious illness, imminent death and/or death of a family member, as defined in 19.03 (b) below. Leave may be taken within thirteen (13) months of the date of the death or within twenty four (24) months from the date of death for the purpose of attending a potlatch related to the death. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent or designate.

The Employer shall make every reasonable effort not to change shifts. If the Employer changes the shift schedule within forty-eight (48) hours of the shift, the Employee(s) affected shall be entitled to overtime compensation for that shift. The Employer must inform Employees of the shift changes made to the posted schedules.

  • Posting of Schedules The Employer shall post the weekly work schedule for all employees not later than Monday 6:00 p.m. and twenty-two (22) days in advance. An employee's schedule may be changed without notice in the event of absence of other staff due to sickness or accident or in the event of emergencies. In all other cases, at least twenty-four (24) hours' notice of any change must be given or four (4) additional hours' pay given in lieu of notice. All requests for time off for special personal events to be made to Management for their approval prior to the posting of the schedule, and will be granted wherever possible. It is understood that this clause does not apply to casual employees. There shall be a daily starting time for each employee. Daily hours of work for full time employees shall be consecutive, with the exception of meal periods.

  • General Leave Notwithstanding any provision for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay to an employee requesting leave for an emergency or other unusual circumstances. A leave of absence may also be granted for any other reason in which case approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. All requests and approvals for leave shall be in writing. Upon request, the Employer will give reasons orally for withholding approval.
