General Safety Requirements. You agree to exercise due care for your own safety and the safety of other residents, including in the use of smoke detectors, door locks, window latches, and other security devices and in the event of severe weather. Apartment/room doors and first floor and basement windows must be locked securely when you are absent from the premises. In accordance with generally accepted construction practices and applicable law, the Contractor will be solely and completely responsible for conditions of the work site, including safety of all persons and property during performance of the Work. This requirement will apply continuously and not be limited to normal working hours. For purposes of California Labor Code Section 6400 and related provisions of law, the Contractor and the Contractor’s privities and any other entities engaged in the performance of the Work will be “employers” responsible for furnishing employment and a place of employment that is safe and healthful for the employees, if any, of such entities engaged in the performance of the Work. Neither the City nor its officials, officers, employees, agents, volunteers or consultants will be “employers” pursuant to California Labor Code Section 6400 and related provisions of law with respect to the Contractor, the Contractor’s privities or other entities engaged in the performance of the Work. The Contractor agrees that neither the City, the Architect, nor the Engineer will be responsible for having hazards corrected and/or removed at the work site. The Contractor agrees that the City will not be responsible for taking steps to protect the Contractor’s employees from such hazards, or for instructing the Contractor’s employees to recognize such hazards or to avoid the associated dangers. The Contractor agrees with respect to the Work and the Work site, the Contractor will be responsible for not creating hazards and for having hazards corrected and/or removed, for taking appropriate, feasible steps to protect the Contractor’s employees from such hazards and that the Contractor has instructed and/or will instruct its employees to recognize such hazards and how to avoid the associated dangers.

General Safety Requirements. No person shall perform an unsafe / unhygienic act or operation whilst on Airports Company South Africa premises. No unsafe/dangerous equipment or tools may be brought onto or used on Airports Company South Africa premises. ACSA reserves the right to inspect all equipment/tools at any time and to prevent/prohibit their use. ACSA reserves the right to act in any way to ensure the safety/security of any persons, equipment or goods on its premises and will not be liable for any cost or loss evoked by the action. This includes the right to search all vehicles and persons entering, leaving or on the premises and to inspect any parcel, package, handbag and pockets. The Contractor shall maintain good housekeeping standards in the area where he/she is working for the duration of the contract. The Contractor must not interfere with, or put at risk, the functionality of any fire prevention system. Care must also be taken to prevent fire hazards. Cell phones and two-way radios Use of cell phones on airside is not permitted unless the user is in possession of an appropriate Airport permit for the device. Cell phone permit issuing authority lies with the ACSA Security department. The Contractor will not be allowed to use two-way radios at the Airport unless these radios are of the type, model and frequency range as approved by the ACSA IT department.
