General Provisions Related to all Leaves. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted to all teachers in the district. Duration of the leave shall be for one (1) year unless otherwise provided. Requests for such leaves must be submitted in writing to the Board at least one (1) month prior to the effective date of the requested leave for approval, except in cases of emergency, and shall state the expected date of return from such leave. If an extension of such leave is desired, a written request prior to thirty (30) days before the expiration of such leave must be presented to the Board for its approval, except in cases of an emergency. Earned sick leave as provided in Section A above of this Article, which had accumulated to the teacher while on active duty, will be reinstated when the teacher has returned to active teaching duty. No additional days of sick leave shall accumulate during any leave of absence without pay.
