FREIGHT COLLECT Sample Clauses
The 'Freight Collect' clause specifies that the responsibility for paying shipping charges rests with the consignee, rather than the shipper. In practice, this means that the recipient of the goods must pay the freight charges upon delivery, and the carrier will not release the goods until payment is made. This arrangement is commonly used when the buyer has established credit with the carrier or when the seller wants to avoid upfront shipping costs. The core function of this clause is to allocate the financial responsibility for transportation to the receiver, thereby reducing the seller's risk and upfront expenses.
