Common use of Freelancers Clause in Contracts

Freelancers. whose background or expertise is not available within the bargaining unit, may be engaged to act as commentators, "pundits" or news analysts. Where the Guild and ACTRA may share jurisdiction, the basic function of the employee shall determine the individual's union affiliation. The restrictions regarding jurisdiction shall not apply to employees of the News Department excluded from the bargaining unit.
