Common use of Float Holiday Clause in Contracts

Float Holiday. Each employee who has completed thirty (30) calendar days or more continuous service prior to the third Monday in February, is entitled to a floating holiday in lieu of Heritage Day. In the event that Heritage Day is declared a national and/or provincial holiday, the floating holiday will be discontinued. The floating holiday shall be taken at a time in the calendar year mutually agreed upon between the employee and the employee's supervisor and scheduled a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance. In the event scheduling of the holiday is in dispute the matter may be referred to the Director of Employee Relations or designate and the employee's supervisor for resolve.
