Five-Day or Greater Notice. For a period of time off of five days or 18 more, a nurse shall request of the supervisor to schedule time off by submitting a 19 request in writing a maximum of six months in advance of the calendar month in 20 which the initial date of the requested ETO occurs. The Hospital will respond in 21 writing to such request no later than 15 weekdays after the date of the receipt of 22 the request. Preference for available time off will be given to the request received 23 on the earliest date, Monday through Friday. In the event two or more nurses 24 request the same period of time off on the same date, the Hospital will seek to 25 accommodate the requests, but if both requests cannot be accommodated, the 26 senior such nurse shall be given preference. However, the senior nurse cannot 27 exercise this preference more than once in a two-year period. The Hospital will 28 continue its practice of circulating request forms for the Christmas, Thanksgiving, 29 and New Year's holidays and rotating time off on those holidays unless the 30 nurses in the department agree in their department guidelines to an alternative 31 holiday scheduling system. If the alternate holiday system cannot reasonably be 32 implemented by the staffing office, the Association and the Hospital shall meet to 33 resolve the problem.
