First Step of the Grievance Procedure. A grievance shall be presented in writing by the Union to the Fire Chief within twenty (20) calendar days of the date the employee knew or should have known of the event giving rise to the grievance. Provided that if the grievance is presented to the MCFRS Labor Relations Officer or designee as provided above, an additional fourteen (14) calendar days shall be added to the time provided. The Fire Chief, or his designee, and representatives of the bargaining unit, shall meet and discuss the grievance within fourteen
