First Grade. As a prerequisite to enrollment in any first grade of a public school, a child shall have attended at least a full-day public or private kindergarten for a full school year, or shall have satisfactorily passed an academic readiness screening prior to enrollment to the first grade. A child must be six (6) years old on or before September 30 of the calendar year in which the school year begins.

First Grade. Some of our key at-home activities will be: • Use weekly goals given in the classroom to support child’s learning at home. Building comprehension skills and phonics will be displayed through activities such as storytime and family interaction. • Math goals will be supported at home by studying the weekly assignment and using as a tool for discussion and learning. 2nd Grade: Some of our key at-home activities will be: • Students will use flashcards to practice and prepare for all tests and quizzes at the end of each math and reading unit. • Reading assignments will be completed at home and reading logs will be used to measure and track student’s participation with phonic skills and comprehension. Logs will be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher weekly. • Math facts will be used as a study support at home with parents to help students develop and increase their math skills. 2nd Grade Goals for Home • I will use my flashcards every day to study and help me prepare for my tests. • Use my reading assignments to discuss my story with my parent and create my own“reading wall” at home. I will use these words to make up my own story and share it with my teacher and my class.
