Field Observations. Using its best efforts through on-site staff, the Construction Manager shall observe the work of Contractors, and observe the quantity and quality of materials and equipment received and stored on site, endeavoring to protect the School District against defects, deficiencies, noncompliance with the Contract Documents or failures of performance by Contractors. The Construction Manager shall report promptly in writing to the School District and the Architect any such observed defects, deficiencies, noncompliance or failures of performance, as well as recommended remedial steps, sending a copy to the applicable Contractor unless directed otherwise by the School District. The Construction Manager shall also evaluate whether approved remedial work has been properly performed. Furnishing such services will not make the Construction Manager responsible for, or give the Construction Manager control over, construction means, methods, techniques, sequences, procedures or results, or for safety precautions or programs. Nothing herein, though, shall excuse nonperformance by the Construction Manager of its own duties under this Agreement or liability to the School District for any such non- performance.
Field Observations. Xxxxx Xxxxxxx is a 14 acre lump sum sale set up off the PA-S-1000. It consists of one unit, although I have broken it up to two separate units in the cruise. The Southeast third of the unit has a stand origin of 1935 and the Western 2/3rds have an origin of 1992. The total MBF for the sale is 302 MBF. The volume is comprised of 51% Xxxxxxx-fir, 22% Red Alder and 18% Western Red Cedar, with small amounts of Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock and Bigleaf Maple. The average DF has a DBH of 19.5” and 69’. The Average RA has a DBH of 12.1 and a bole height of 50’. The average RC has a DBH of 19.8 and a bole height of 51’. The sale is all ground based and has good access to the unit.
Field Observations. All timber was graded in variable log lengths with the Scaling Bureaus Westside/Northwest log rules. The utility wood was given a board ft. volume. Ocean View was cruised using the Variable plot sample method. Ocean View consists of 95% cable harvesting and 5% ground harvesting. Ocean View has good cable operator ground throughout the sale, with elevations ranging from 1000’- 1700’. Predominant species is Xxxxxxx fir, with a scattered component of Western Hemlock and Western Red Cedar. The species composition is Xxxxxxx fir at 96%, with an average diameter of 20 inches, and an average bole height of 87 feet. Also scattered throughout the sale was 32mbf of high quality A sort Xxxxxxx fir. Defect observed on site included: forked or multiple tops, Schweinitzii, root rot pockets, spike knots, sweep, and broken tops. Observed in the eastern portion of the sale was a decline of both the basal area and volume per acre. Dead and down cedar logs suitable for shake and shingle recovery were observed in the unit. No estimate of the quantity or quality was made during the cruise. However, the sale may contain up to one cord per acre based upon feedback from the district forester. Field Observations. This sale consists of 1 variable retention harvest (VRH) unit behind the Mission Creek Corrections Center located within the Tahuya State Forest. The primary species breakdown for this sale is as follows: Xxxxxxx-fir (DF): 94% The DF throughout this sale averages 16” diameter with 82’ bole height. This is mostly shovel ground, with relatively uncomplicated logging access. Common defect consisted of sweep and broken/forked tops. Field Observations. Sub-consultant shall visit the park site and proposed entrances to observe traffic conditions and circulation patterns at the site and nearby roadways (Xxxxxx Xxxx, Lakeville Road, Highway 116/Stage Gulch Road, and Highway 121). Sub-consultant shall observe vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle, and parking conditions approaching the site. Field observations will include sight lines at the two proposed entrances and intersections that are determined to need upgrading. Sub-consultant shall collect a seven day vehicle traffic count and speed survey at the two proposed entrances to the site (on Lakeville Road and Highway 121) if current Caltrans data is not already available to use to evaluate and validate the recommendations.
Field Observations. Bull Mill is an 8 unit timber sale located off of the Clearwater Mainline, South of Forks. This sale has 141 harvestable acres. Access to all of the every unit is good. This sale is 71% cable based harvest and 29% ground based harvest. The total volume of the sale is 4,043.3 MBF and is comprised of 61% Xxxxxxx-fir, 36% Western Hemlock and 3% Red Alder; with traces of Sitka Spruce in a few units. The average DF DBH is 16.5” and the average WH DBH is 12.2”. Common defects are sweep and forks in the DF and WH. Grants: 03

Field Observations. Clear Copper is a 5 unit sale located off of the Clearwater Mainline. The sale has 40 harvestable acres and access to all units is good, with no key required. The total volume of the sale is 1,141 MBF and is comprised of 66% Western Hemlock and 32% Xxxxxxx-fir, with traces of Red Alder, Western Red Cedar and Sitka Spruce. The average WH has a DBH of 15.0” and a bole height of 61’, common defects are butt rot and forked tops. The average DF has a DBH of 16.7” and a bole height of 67’, common defects are sweep and spike knots. This sale is 100% ground based harvest.
Field Observations. The Consultant shall conduct field observations on a daily basis throughout the duration of construction and document, with photographs, a daily report of the conditions and progress of the Work and conformance to the Design Criteria Package and Contract Documents. The Consultant shall be present at the construction site daily during the construction phase of the Project and shall be expected to be available, as needed, throughout the Contractor's work day. 2.6

The terrain throughout Cygnus is gentle to rolling, making for excellent operator ground. Cygnus timber sale has a variable timber type component, and ranges is elevation from 1000’-1500’. The Species composition throughout the sale is Xxxxxxx fir at 73%, Western Hemlock at 12%, and Western Red Cedar at 13%. Observed throughout the sale was 117mbf of pole quality Xxxxxxx fir, 62mbf of pole quality Western Red Cedar and 287mbf of A sort High Quality Xxxxxxx fir. The pole volume was a mix of distribution and transmission sizes, with a scattered component of naturals. Defect observed includes: forked or multiple tops, heart rot, frost checking, spike knots, and sweep.
