Family Illness Leave. Section 1: Family Illness Leave may be granted to an eligible employee as defined in Section 2 below in the case of actual sickness or disability of an immediate family member. Immediate family shall be defined as: the employee's spouse, father, mother, son, daughter, grandparents, registered domestic partners and persons determined "in loco parentis" (in place of the parent) by the Director of Human Resources. Immediate family shall also include step-children if domiciled in the employee's household.
