Family Death. Absence due to death in the immediate family is interpreted to include parent, parent-in-law, step-parent, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, child, step-child, spouse, qualified domestic partner, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle or a member of the immediate household and is deducted from sick leave. Any employee who does not have sufficient sick leave accumulation, shall be entitled to up to three (3) days off without loss of pay for bereavement leave due to death in the immediate family.

Family Death. In the event of a death in the immediate family of an employee (spouse, parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, step-child, step-parents, guardians, children, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren), the employee shall be granted three (3) consecutive days leave of absence with full pay on those days included in the employee's scheduled work week to make household adjustments or to attend funeral services. In the event of a death of an employee's aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, first cousin, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, or grandparents-in-law, the employee shall be granted a one-day (1-day) leave of absence with full pay on that day included in the employee's scheduled work week to attend the funeral. To be eligible for funeral leave for an "in-law," an employee must be married at the time of the funeral. Step relationships are determined by the employee’s current marriage. Civic-Duty Leave A non-probationary employee called for jury duty shall be allowed time away from work with pay for such purpose. "Civic-Duty Leave" as used herein includes required reporting for jury duty when summoned until excused for the day. If an employee is called for jury duty, he/she shall notify his/her immediate supervisor on the next working day after he/she receives the notice for duty. Personal Leave Days
