Failure to Successfully Complete Probationary Period. New employees will be separated at the discretion of the Superintendent of Highways at any time during the probationary period without recourse on the part of the Union to the grievance procedure or disciplinary procedure. The seniority of probationary employees, after having completed the probationary period, will date back to the date of hire at which time a new employee shall receive full continuous service credit. An employee serving a probationary period who has been promoted or transferred from a permanent appointment (as defined by civil service regulations) shall be returned to the employee’s former permanent position prior to the end of the probationary period.
