Extra Activities. At Little Acorns we like to offer additional experiences and activities to our children. This includes sports sessions run by Sports4Tots. Sports 4 Tots provide professional 'multi-sports' coaching to children of all abilities between 2 and 5 years old. Sports4Tots sessions not only improve balance, co- ordination and agility but also improve social skills such as communication, listening and being part of a team. The specific aim of each session is to make sport a fun experience. This means children will learn to associate sport with an enjoyable experience and are more likely to continue participation as they get older and progress through life. Sports4tots also actively promote healthy eating and the importance of this for a healthy lifestyle. We teach the children to recognise the changes in their bodies that exercising causes, e.g. increased heart rate, and the positive effect that this has. Each individual’s progress is monitored and certificates awarded at the end of the year to provide the children with a sense of achievement. Every single session that Sports4Tots perform has 1 main aim, to make sport fun, which translates into a healthier, happier child. Little Acorns also run weekly Forest School sessions. These sessions are organised by our Manager who is a fully qualified Forest School Teacher. The aim of Forest School is to enable children to embrace the learning opportunities of the natural world and, through positive learning and achievable tasks, allow even the youngest of children to develop in self-confidence, self-esteem and self-belief. Research has shown that children who participate in Forest School frequently show improved physical and motor skills, improved language and communication skills, improved social skills including team working, improved knowledge and understanding of the environment, increased self confidence and self belief and increased motivation and concentration. Little Xxxxxx’ Assistant Manager is a qualified Zumba instructor and loves to include dance and music within the children’s every day activities. There may be an extra charge for participating in these activities to cover the running costs. Healthy Eating Little Acorns encourage children to have a healthy attitude towards food.
