Extended Professional Leave. Employees shall be entitled to extended professional leave without pay for a period of one year. Such leave shall be granted only to employees with satisfactory ratings who carry not less than the number of semester hours required of the average student enrolled at that institution taking graduate work for an advanced degree. Such leave may be extended for an additional year.
Extended Professional Leave. For the encouragement of continued professional development and resulting improvement in the quality and level of experience of instructional personnel, extended professional leave without pay for the period not to exceed one (1) school year may be granted by the Board.
Extended Professional Leave. Section 1 - Leave Teachers who have completed at least four (4) years of service in the school corporation shall be granted an extended professional leave without pay for a period of one (1) semester or one (1) school year if they have filed written notice of the request for leave with the director of personnel at least sixty (60) calendar days before the first day of leave. If a teacher fails to give written notification to the director of personnel sixty (60) calendar days before the first day of leave of absence, then it is within the director of personnel's discretion to deny the leave. However, extended professional leave will not be denied arbitrarily or capriciously. Teachers taking extended professional leave will notify the MCCSC in writing before November 1 of the first semester or before February 15 of the second semester of their intent to return to MCCSC employment for the next semester or the next school year.
Extended Professional Leave. 1) All instructional personnel who are on continuing, or professional service contract and who apply for and are granted an extended professional leave of absence must present to the Superintendent or designee the following:
Extended Professional Leave. A professional leave may be extended an additional year, up to two (2) years total, without pay upon application, for purpose of participation in: Extended professional leave shall not be denied in an arbitrary or capricious manner and reasons for denial shall be given in writing to the bargaining unit member.
Extended Professional Leave. A leave of absence for professional improvement, without salary, may be granted for any teacher, upon application, for up to one (1) year and upon reapplication, for up to a second year, for the purpose of the following: Engaging in study at an accredited university in his/her subject area or area deemed beneficial to the school system by the Superintendent.
Extended Professional Leave. 1. Extended professional leave is leave without pay granted in excess of 30 days. No one, with the exception of employees granted leave to work for a charter school, may receive more than two consecutive years of extended professional leave, which is approved one year at a time. Except for instances where a charter school ceases operation, an employee granted extended professional leave for employment with a charter school may return to active status only at the end of the school year. Upon return, the employee shall be assigned to an equivalent position in accordance with his/her area(s) of certification. An employee may not receive in excess of two consecutive years of extended professional leave. An employee granted extended professional leave may engage in activities for which no college credit is granted, including full-time employment, provided it is determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee that these activities will enhance his/her professional competence. If approved for full-time employment, an employee shall not receive any fringe benefits provided by the M-DCPS.
Extended Professional Leave. A. Extended leave for professional development may be granted for a period not to exceed one (1) year to any member of the instructional staff who has served satisfactorily and successfully in the District, provided also that partial compensation may be authorized only when the person has served in the District for at least three (3) years or when the leave is granted for additional study in accordance with policies of the Board relating to its program of staff development.
Extended Professional Leave. 17 Leave granted to a bargaining unit member for professional improvement in excess of thirty (30) 18 consecutive days, but for a period not exceeding one year, is extended professional leave. Such leave 19 is ordinarily initiated by the individual and may be granted at the discretion of the Board, provided 20 the individual has served successfully and satisfactorily for a period of three (3) years or more. 21 Extended professional leave shall be without compensation.
