Extended Personal Illness a. Any employee whose personal illness extends beyond the period of accumulated and extended sick leave will, upon application, and with the approval of the Superintendent, be granted a leave of absence without pay, for such time as necessary for complete recovery from such illness, up to the maximum of one (1) year, or as otherwise provided in applicable regulations. Such leave of absence must be supported by a physician’s certificate and approved by the School Medical Director.

Extended Personal Illness. A member whose personal illness extends beyond the period of accumulated and extended sick leave, will be granted a leave of absence for such time as is necessary for recovery from such illness, up to a maximum of two (2) years. Such leave of absence shall be supported by physician’s certificate. Upon return from this leave, the member shall be required to furnish a doctor’s certification indicating fitness to return to employment. At the end of two (2) years, if the member is unable to return, the member’s employment may be terminated, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
Extended Personal Illness. The Employer, or its designee, shall grant a leave of absence for a period not to exceed a maximum of one (1) year to an employee who is unable to perform her regular duties because of personal illness, provided written certification of illness is received from a physician. Approved leave shall end upon the employee being certified by a physician as being able to return to work, or one (1) year, whichever is lesser. The employee shall have the option of using, or not using, any sick/vacation, business days prior to beginning the approved leave. Such leave of absence shall be without salary, increments, sick leave, vacation time and all other benefits with the following exception: the Employer agrees to continue premium payments on dental, vision and life insurance for a period not to exceed one (1) year.

Such request for leave of absence shall be granted for one (1) year and must be supported by a physician’s certificate. The leave may be renewed annually, and each request for renewal shall also be supported by a physician’s certificate. At the end of the five (5) years, the administrator may be dismissed, pursuant to tenure law.
