Common use of Extended Leave Clause in Contracts

Extended Leave. After six (6) years of service to the District and at intervals of six (6) years thereafter, the employee shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for one (1) year. The employee shall notify the District in writing of his/her intention to return by May 1st. Failure to meet the May 1st deadline will be considered a resignation. Upon return fro such leave, the professional employee shall be guaranteed the same position held prior to the commencement of the leave. All rights of tenure, retirements, accrued sick leave, salary increments and other benefits provided herein shall be preserved and available to the professional employee upon his/her return to the District.
