Extended Leave. Upon written request and/or interview with the Board, professional employees may be granted leaves of absence without pay for up to one (1) year for pregnancy, illness or pursuit of a higher degree. All rights of tenure, retirement, accrued sick leave, salary increments and other benefits provided herein shall be preserved and available to the professional employee upon his/her return to the district.
