Extended Illness And Injury Benefits. When a member of the bargaining unit is absent from his/her duties on account of illness or injury, whether or not the absence arises out of or in the course of the employment, the member shall be entitled to the following extended illness or injury leave benefit after he/she has exhausted all regular sick leave in accordance with California Education Code Section 45196 and applicable law/s. Members who are absent because of illness or injury and have exhausted the total number of days of current and accumulated sick leave and any donated catastrophic leaves shall receive 50% of their regular salary for a maximum of 100 working days. No other leaves, such as vacation, compensatory time, or floating holiday shall be used by the employee while on extended illness leave. For purposes of this section, “regular salary” means the amount the member would have earned in his or her regular assignment had he or she not been absent, but shall not include any overtime pay. Members shall be credited each fiscal year with 100 working days of extended injury or illness leave. The 100 days shall not accumulate form year to year. Nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing the application of full or partial pay for periods of time during which a member would not normally be assigned to work.

Entitlement to such leave provisions under this Section, if any, shall be used after entitlement to all regular sick leaves, vacation or other available paid leave has been exhausted.

  • Extended Illness Sick leave for extended illness (5 or more days) will be paid only during the time period in which a physician certifies the employee to be physically or mentally disabled, and only to the extent of the number of days accumulated.

  • SHORT-TERM ILLNESS AND INJURY AND LONG-TERM DISABILITY Employees shall be entitled to coverage for short term illness and injury and long term disability in accordance with agreed upon regulations which will be subject to review and revision during the period of this Agreement by negotiations between the Parties and included as Appendix A to this Agreement.

  • Extended Benefits If you are disabled on the date your healthcare coverage ends, your benefits will be temporarily extended for any continuous loss, which commenced while your coverage was in force. The services provided under this benefit are subject to all terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions listed in this agreement, and the care you receive must relate to or arise out of the disability you had on the day your healthcare coverage ended. Extended benefits apply only to the subscriber who is disabled. If you want to receive coverage for continued care when your coverage ends, you must provide us with proof that you are disabled.   • Extended Illness Bank Employees who were hired prior to January 15, 1984 and who have hours remaining in their extended illness bank may access those hours in accordance with the Employer’s policy. Hours do not accrue in these extended illness banks.

  • Extended Illness Leave 1. Extended Illness Leave, hereinafter referred to as “EIL” shall be established for Administrative Support Group, XXXX, Clerical, and Educational Assistant personnel who are absent due to their own personal illness or injury following the exhaustion of their accumulated illness, vacation and annual allotment of short term leave. Pre-authorization is required for the rental and/or purchase of all durable equipment and all Nursing Care/Home Care benefits. Certain dollar amounts or time period maximums apply. It is important to note that reimbursement under the extended health care benefit is made at 80% of covered eligible expenses up to $5,000; expenses over $5,000 and less than $10,000 are reimbursed at 90%, and expenses over $10,000 are reimbursed at 100% in any calendar year. The insurer will pay 100% of the reasonable and customary charges (subject to any benefit maximums) for expenses, such as hospital, physician, return home and other expenses as outlined in the employee booklet. Coverage under Group Travel Insurance is limited to a maximum of ninety (90) days per trip for travel within Canada. Coverage commences from the actual date of departure from your province of residence. Coverage under Group Travel Insurance is limited to thirty (30) days per trip for travel outside Canada. Coverage commences from the actual date of departure from Canada. A person with an existing medical condition must be stable for 3 months prior to travelling. Stable means there has been no period of hospitalization, no increase or modification in treatment or prescribed medication, or no symptom for which a reasonably prudent person would consult a physician. Stable dosage does not apply to diabetics. Additional coverage is available from Great-West Life on an optional pay all basis.
