Common use of Experience Pay Clause in Contracts

Experience Pay. An employee hired by the Hospital with recent and related clerical experience may claim at the time of hiring on a form supplied by the hospital, consideration of such experience. Any such claim shall be accompanied by verification of previously related experience. The Hospital shall then evaluate such experience during the probationary period. Where, in the opinion, such experience is relevant, the employee shall be slotted in that step of wage progression consistent with one (1) service for every one (1) year of related experience in the classification on the completion of the employee's probationary period. It is understood and agreed that this shall not constitute a violation of the wage schedule in the collective agreement. Promotion to a Higher Classification An employee who is promoted to a higher rated classification within the bargaining unit will be placed in the range of the higher rated classification so that he shall receive no less an increase in wage rate than the equivalent of one step in the wage rate of his previous classification (provided that he does not exceed the wage rate of the classification to which he has been promoted).
