Common use of Exchange Teaching Clause in Contracts

Exchange Teaching. Leaves of absence of up to one (1) year will be granted to any Teacher who serves as a full- time exchange Teacher. If the Teacher has completed five (5) or more consecutive years of service, the Teacher may, upon recommendation of the Superintendent and with the approval of the Board, be paid for the leave of absence for exchange teaching. Upon return to the School Corporation, persons who have been granted leaves of absence for exchange teaching in programs under the auspices of the United States government will be considered as if they were actively employed by the Board during the period of leave and will be placed in a vacant position for which he or she is qualified. Such leaves may be extended by the Superintendent upon request.
