Entitlement to Other Sick Leave. Each employee in the bargaining unit shall once a year be credited with a total of 100 days sick leave in addition to the sick leave provided under Section 13.4.1 of this Article. Each day of sick leave provided by this Section shall be compensated at the rate of fifty (50) percent of the employee’s regular salary. The paid sick leave provided for under this Section shall be in addition to any other paid leave provided for in this Article and shall be used after the exhaustion of the leaves provided in Sections 13.4. The leave in this Section shall not be accumulative.

Entitlement to Other Sick Leave. 12.10.1 When a member of the bargaining unit is absent from duty on account of illness or accident for a period of five (5) months or less during a fiscal year, whether or not the accident arises out of or occurred in the course of employment of the employee, the amount deducted from the salary due the employee for any month in which the absence occurs shall not exceed the sum which is actually paid the substitute employee who fills the absent employee's position during the absence. This leave provision commences on the first day of absence for each fiscal year.

Entitlement to Other Sick Leave. A regular classified employee shall, once a year, be credited with a total of one-hundred (100) working days of paid sick leave, including days to which he/she is entitled under section 45191, of the California Education Code. Such days of paid sick leave, in addition to those required by Section 45191, shall be compensated at not less than fifty (50) percent of the employee’s regular salary. The paid sick leave authorized shall be exclusive of any other paid leave, holidays, vacation, or compensating time to which the employee may be entitled. This paid sick leave is to continue with 50% pay during long term or serious illness or injury. The employee must be under a medical professional’s care. Effective the first day of this 50% pay, a medical professional’s written verification is required. Absences that do not meet these requirements, when all other leaves have been exhausted, will be considered unpaid leave. If such written verification is not provided, payroll deductions will be made for those unpaid absences.

Upon the exhaustion of sick and industrial accident leaves, except as set forth below, the employee shall exhaust accrued vacation before commencing his or her 100 days of half-pay sick leave.
Entitlement to Other Sick Leave. 13.3.1 Pursuant to Education Code section 45196, every July 1st, each permanent unit member shall be credited with 100 days of fifty percent (50%) pay sick days. The 100 days per fiscal year runs concurrently with the use of sick leave taken in accordance with Article 13.2 and days of industrial accident or illness leave in accordance with Article 13.6. These fifty percent (50%) pay sick days shall be available for use during the year they are credited to the unit member only and shall not accumulate from year to year.
