EMPLOYMENT YEAR. A. For a fiscal-year employee an employment year shall begin on the first day of the fiscal year of the College (September 1) and end on the last day of the fiscal year (August 31).
EMPLOYMENT YEAR. A. The base employment year shall be one hundred eighty-seven (187) days for each year of this Agreement for teachers not required either by this Agreement or by individual agreement pursuant to Section B of this Article to work additional or fewer days. For teachers new to the district each year, the work year shall be one hundred ninety (190) days for each year of this Agreement and shall commence three (3) days prior to the work year of teachers not new to the district; provided, however, that if a new teacher shall have a bona fide reason for not being present any of the first three (3) days the Board shall not deduct for a leave of absence without pay for any such days. During these three (3) days prior to the work year, the orientation program will include one hour for a presentation by the Association to teachers new to the district. Prior to the three (3) days for teachers new to the district, the Association will be provided with a list of all certified staff that are new to the district.
EMPLOYMENT YEAR. The employment year shall include all student attendance days (no less than 180 days) plus any other days when requested by the Board of Education. When attendance of ParaEducators is not required for a scheduled District Institute Day, Human Resources will collaborate with the Association to choose which Institute Day members will not attend. In all cases, ParaEducators are paid only for hours worked except as provided under sick and personal leave. Each semester a ParaEducator has the option, with approval of her/her supervisor, to be released from work on either personal leave time or pay deduct time, the remainder of one full work day (seven (7) hours) during the non-student attendance portions of final examination days. A thirty (30) minute lunch break and two fifteen minute breaks shall be deducted from the requested personal leave time or pay deduct, provided that the employee has not taken the break(s) or lunch during the student attendance portion of the exam day.

EMPLOYMENT YEAR. The employment year for all full-time employees shall be from July 1 through June 30, except when the school is closed in whole or in part provided, however, that the Board reserves the right to reduce the length of the work year or the number of work days scheduled during the summer recess period for full-year employees upon sixty (60) days prior written notice to affected employees.

If the work year is extended beyond 185.5 days, the Board shall compensate the teachers at a per diem rate for each additional day based on the salary schedule for that year divided by 185.5. EMPLOYMENT YEAR. The scheduled employment year of teachers covered by the classroom teachers' salary schedule (other than new personnel who may be required to attend pre-school orientation sessions) shall be 188 days of employment. 183 days may be used for instructional purposes. Teachers shall be required to be in attendance on all of the work days set forth above, unless excused as provided elsewhere in this Agreement. Teachers requested to work other than the scheduled employment year shall be compensated in accordance with rates otherwise herein contained or negotiated between the Association and Board of Education. The Association shall be provided with thirty (30) minutes on the agenda for orientation for new teachers to discuss Association business. During this time, the Association may set up a display table, distribute materials, and engage in organizational activities with the new personnel. The Board reserves the right to designate the agenda for orientation.
EMPLOYMENT YEAR. X. XXXX recognizes that changes in the student school year and, thus, changes in the employment year are not a mandatory subject of negotiation, but can be determined by the Board unilaterally. The Board recognizes, however, that changes in the employment year are subject to negotiations as to their impact on XXXX.
EMPLOYMENT YEAR. Members of the bargaining unit (who are not new teachers in Suffield) shall be compensated for school years during the term of this Agreement in accordance with the salary schedule set forth herein based upon an employment year of one hundred eighty eight (188) days including at least two non-instructional days, such work year to be scheduled at the discretion of the Board of Education at a time contiguous with the student school year. One of these non-instructional days is to be scheduled immediately before the start of the school year and one is to be scheduled immediately following the end of the school year as a teacher work day (no in-service, no meetings) for the express purpose of preparing/cleaning classrooms and materials for start or end of school year. New teachers shall have an employment year of eighty-nine (189) days, including one induction day. Should the Board in its discretion extend the work year, as defined above, members of the bargaining unit shall be compensated at a per diem rate based on their annual salaries for every such day at the rate of l/188 and 1/189 for new teachers.
