Common use of EMPLOYER AND UNION TO ACQUAINT NEW EMPLOYEES Clause in Contracts

EMPLOYER AND UNION TO ACQUAINT NEW EMPLOYEES. ‌ The Employer agrees to acquaint new employees with the fact that a collective agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment set out in the articles dealing with union security and dues check-off. A new employee shall be introduced to their shop xxxxxxx who will provide him/her with a copy of the Collective Agreement. The Employer agrees that the xxxxxxx will be given an opportunity to interview each new employee within regular working hours, without loss of pay, for fifteen (15) minutes sometime during their first day at work for the purpose of acquainting the new employee with the benefits and duties of union membership and the employee's responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union. Notwithstanding the above, the Employer will allow a xxxxxxx to schedule a one (1) hour meeting without loss of pay, to orientate six (6) or more new employees, within thirty (30) days of hiring, for the purpose of acquainting the new employees with the benefits and duties of union membership and the employee's responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union. To facilitate this process the Employer agrees to provide a list of new hires on a monthly basis.
