Emergency Shelter. The facility serves as a supportive 63-bed year round community shelter for homeless adults (men, women and families) who require shelter to access outpatient services necessary to leave homelessness (“Emergency Shelter”). The length of stay is directly linked with an individualized contract to participate in a rehabilitation program. The expected average length of stay (LOS) is 80 days; and the maximum LOS is 90 days. With funds provided under this Agreement, Contractor shall accept referrals and conduct screening, intake, and evaluation for 80 homeless individuals from San Mateo County during the term of this Agreement.
Emergency Shelter. XXXX will provide staffed, safe and confidential emergency shelter services for DV victims and their children/dependents for 6-8 weeks in one location within San Mateo County. This shelter will be provided on a 24-hour basis for victims of domestic violence and their children, and includes, but is not limited to, hotel or motel arrangements, and/or safe house. XXXX will provide intake, assessment, recovery planning, counseling, education, and case management services for shelter residents.
Emergency Shelter. The primary purpose is to provide a temporary shelter for persons experiencing homelessness. The shelter does not require occupants to sign leases or occupancy agreements.
Emergency Shelter. A facility with overnight sleeping accommodations that is intended to provide a safe, secure, temporary place for individuals and households to reside while they seek more permanent housing or supportive services that will facilitate access to permanent housing options. Emergency shelters are often the point of entry into the homeless system, assisting those confronted with an immediate loss of housing or those who are already homeless. Emergency shelters generally have a length of stay ranging from 1 to 90 days.
Emergency Shelter. When an employee is required to seek emergency shelter from interpersonal violence, the employee may be entitled to draw from sick leave credits for up to three (3) days per year, or access any other available leave. An employee who has expended all available paid leave may be granted a leave of absence without pay.

Emergency Shelter a) Major Rehabilitation, Conversion, or Renovation of a building to serve as a homeless shelter. Site must serve homeless persons for at least 3 or 10 years, depending on the cost. Note: Property acquisition and new construction are ineligible ESG activities.

Permanent Supportive Housing Long-term community-based housing and supportive services for homeless persons with disabilities. The intent of this type of supportive housing is to enable this special needs population to live as independently as possible in a permanent setting. The supportive services may be provided by the organization managing the housing or provided by other public or private service agencies. There is no definite length of stay. Permanent Housing Housing which is intended to be the tenant’s home for as long as they choose. In the supportive housing model, services are available to the tenant, but accepting services cannot be required of tenants or in any way impact their tenancy. Point in Time Census Since 2003, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has required applicants for federal homeless assistance grants to report the number of people who are homeless in their communities at a particular time. HUD requires that communities conduct a point-in-time count during the last week of January. Collecting reliable baseline data is essential to understanding the causes of homelessness and designing effective interventions to help homeless people rebuild their lives. Stand Down The original Stand Down For Homeless Veterans was modeled after the Stand Down concept used during the Vietnam War to provide a safe retreat for units returning from combat operations. At secure base camp areas, troops were able to take care of personal hygiene, get clean uniforms, enjoy warm meals, receive medical and dental care, mail and receive letters, and enjoy the camaraderie of friends in a safe environment. Lee County expanded the concept to include “all homeless individuals” and utilizes the even for data collection through an intake interview that attendees participate in prior to obtaining services, resources and referrals, clothing, food and more. Transitional Housing, (HUD Definition) HUD defines transitional housing as a project that is designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to homeless persons to facilitate movement to independent living within 24 months. Emergency Shelter. When an employee is required to seek emergency shelter from domestic violence, the employee shall be entitled to draw up to three (3) days of unexpended sick leave as per Article 17.3, or access her discretionary leave, as per Article 18.3, or vacation leave as per Article 16.1(b). An employee who has expended all available paid leave may be granted a leave of absence without pay.
