EMERGENCY LEAVE DAYS. Employees who are not in Step 2 or above in the disciplinary procedure will be eligible for two (2) emergency leave days within each contract year. An Emergency Leave must be for a legitimate and unforeseen emergency situation which prevents the employee from coming to work. It is understood and agreed that the Company reserves the right to require reasonable evidence for the Emergency Leave.

EMERGENCY LEAVE DAYS. It is understood that employees are entitled to unpaid leave for family emergencies totaling 10 days per year under the Employment Standards Act. It is further understood that the use of paid leave for family emergencies granted under the collective agreement shall be counted as part of this entitle- ment and to the extent possible, used prior to the use of un- paid days. For further clarity, the parties agree to the follow- ing protocol. Employees, prior to using unpaid leave must first use their paid leave for Family Emergency under Article 13.07 of the Collective Agreement. It is further understood that should an employee be required to use paid bereavement leave under Article 13.05 of the Collective Agreement in any calendar year, such leave shall be taken prior to using unpaid days. The number of days used under either Article 13.05 or 13.07 shall be deducted from the total annual entitlement under the ESA. Notwithstanding the foregoing, this letter shall not be inter- preted to deny an employee access to bereavement leave to which he or she is entitled under the Collective Agreement.
EMERGENCY LEAVE DAYS. The Company and the Union agree for the purposes of administering Emergency Leave days, every Short Term Disability (STD) claim will be counted as one Emergency Leave day towards the Emergency Leave day count. LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING DUAL TICKETS & APPRENTICESHIPS Skilled Trades employees hired after July 1, 2011 must be employed and working on Wescast equipment for a minimum of 2 years before they can register for a second ticket. As per current practice, second ticket training, trade school, etc. the opportunity to be provided based on seniority. While a journey person is apprenticing for a second ticket, they will, after first ticket apprentices have had the opportunity, be scheduled to work with a tradesperson, or under the supervision of a trade’s person in that trade for training purposes. The apprentice may be asked to temporarily switch shifts and/or departments for training purposes. Backfilling will be by voluntary shift change, overtime or move the lowest seniority in the trade if required, on the shift the apprentice(s) is being moved from. The movement of first and second ticket apprentice(s) will be evaluated prior to any moves, to ensure there is sufficient competency within the department. This will be reviewed with the Joint Apprenticeship/Training Committee. Once a tradesperson successfully obtains their second ticket, it is not intended for them to be regularly scheduled to work in the second trade until all first ticket employees are utilized as per the following paragraphs.

The Company shall respect an employee’s right to medical privacy and shall not require an employee to furnish medical certificates that contain detailed medical information concerning his medical condition.
