Emergency/Bereavement Leave. A. Thirty six hours (36) of leave may be granted to an employee at the discretion of the district superintendent for the purpose of dealing with an extreme emergency including but not limited to bereavement of immediate family. This leave will be charged to the employee’s accrued sick leave.
Emergency/Bereavement Leave. Employees shall be granted up to five (5) days of paid leave per year for purposes of an emergency/bereavement nature. These days shall not be accumulative from year to year. Such leave may be used for the following:
Emergency/Bereavement Leave. Three (3) days per year may be granted without loss of pay for emergencies including bereavement and attendance at funerals. The Superintendent must approve payment for all emergency/bereavement days taken. Requests for additional emergency/bereavement days in any one year shall be made to the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Emergency/Bereavement Leave. Emergency leave may be granted by the appointing authority or designee without loss of pay for emergency purposes, which shall include: critical illness or death in the immediate family; if an employee is subpoenaed to appear before a court and such other situations considered meritorious by the appointing authority or designee who shall certify allowance or disallowance of the emergency leave sought. Emergency leave shall be supplementary to and not in restriction of, annual leave as herein provided. Use of emergency leave shall not replace the provisions of FMLA leave referenced under Article 25.2 of this contract. Employees whose emergency leave event qualifies for FMLA leave under current federal law, must apply for FMLA leave and provide the necessary documentation to determine the need. Pay for FMLA qualifying events will be covered by the applicable provisions of FMLA leave. For the purposes of this section, immediate family shall be defined as being a spouse, and children of the employee, children of the spouse, grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, sister and brother of either the employee or the employee’s spouse, or others at the discretion of the appointing authority or designee. This provision shall not be construed to supersede the payment of wages at the overtime rate in accordance with Article 15 of this contract for subpoenas related to the employee’s work for the Town of Goffstown.

Emergency/Bereavement Leave. Each employee may have four (4) non-accumulative days of emer- gency/bereavement leave per year. For the purposes of this leave an emergency shall be described as a suddenly precipitated situation of such a nature that preplanning is not possible. Bereavement leave shall be granted for a death in an immediate family. "Immediate family" shall include mother, father, brother, sister, wife or husband, son or daughter, grandfather or grandmother, grandchild or the same as related by marriage. In the cases of some other factor, prior approval should be sought from the superintendent.
Emergency/Bereavement Leave. 35.1 Teachers shall be granted up to five (5) days each year for bereavement in the case of a death of a member of the teacher’s immediate family or for events of an emergency nature. An emergency is defined as an event of catastrophic or unforeseen nature which would keep a teacher from performing their duties. Emergency/Bereavement leave is granted with full pay. IMMEDIATE FAMILY DEFINITION: This includes both first and second degree relations by affinity and consanguinity (by blood and marriage). First degree relations are defined as father, mother, husband, wife, and children. Second degree relations are defined as grandfather, grandmother, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. For all leave purposes, any leave more than one (1) hour and less than three (3) hours will be considered ½ day charged to the appropriate leave category. Any leave of one hour or less is not chargeable and will be worked out with the principal.
Emergency/Bereavement Leave. When death occurs in an employee’s immediate family, the employee, upon request, shall be granted up to three days leave within the first ten calendar days after the death. An employee excused from work under this Section shall receive the amount of wages he would have earned by working during his straight time hours on such scheduled days of work for which he is excused. “Immediate family” shall mean the employee’s spouse, child, stepchild, grandchildren, mother, father, stepparents, sister, brother, stepbrother, stepsister, mother- in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and grandparents.
