Elementary Teachers. Elementary teachers’ day shall be eight-ten a.m. to three forty p.m. (8:10 – 3:40), with a forty (40) minute lunch period. All elementary teachers shall be guaranteed a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period of at least forty (40) minutes. The only exception to this policy shall be when weather conditions are such that the elementary children cannot be sent out of doors. In these cases, the building principal will assign the necessary teachers and other personnel to supervise through the noon period. These assignments shall be on a rotating basis. Elementary teachers K-5 shall normally have a guaranteed break during recess periods. Exceptions to this policy shall be when weather/emergency situations are such that the elementary children cannot be sent outdoors. In these cases, the building principal will assign the necessary teachers and other personnel to properly supervise students during these periods on a rotating basis. It is understood and agreed classroom paraprofessionals may be removed by the Administration from their classroom assignment to implement this provision. If qualified paraprofessionals are not available and already in a building to implement this provision, a staff member representative may request a meeting with the principal and Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee to review the matter and discuss possible alternative solutions.

Elementary Teachers a. A teaching assignment shall be defined as time during the instructional week devoted to teaching courses and lessons, and shall include time assigned to supervise curricular activities, including study periods but not including recess.

Within the financial constraints of the district and building/room utilization, administrators will schedule in Grades K-5 forty (40) minutes art, music, physical education, and technology. Library/media will be twenty (20) minutes. Related arts teachers will travel as teams, when necessary, to accommodate common planning time and/or professional development. Related arts teachers will choose their assignments from a pre-determined schedule by seniority. If preparation time exceeds the average 180 minutes, extra assignments or duties may be given. Related arts teachers shall post data specific to their subject area in Card Campus at least twice per grading period, typically near interim time and the end of each grading period. Elementary Related Arts Committee shall be established to monitor related arts concerns consisting of two (2) MTA representatives and two (2) related arts classroom teachers and designated administrators.

Elementary Teachers. Each teacher employed full time shall be provided 225 minutes per week for planning or conference time. Part time employees who meet the qualifications outlined in the OCFT Recognition clause of this Agreement shall be granted planning or conference time in direct proportional correlation to the amount of time they are employed compared to a full time teacher. Thus, a half time employee shall receive one-half of the planning and conference time accorded a full time employee.
Elementary Teachers transferring to the secondary panel with the program shall commence accruing seniority on the Secondary Seniority List as of the first teaching day following the transfer of the program. Secondary seniority shall be consistent with Article L12 of the secondary collective agreement.
