Elected Position. An employee shall, upon application at least thirty (30) days in advance (more where possible), be granted leave of absence without pay to hold a full-time elected Union office. The leave may be extended as long as the employee holds that position, and with the provision that the employee gives thirty (30) days' notice of return to work.

Elected Position. The Board agrees to grant a leave of absence without pay, not more than two (2) weeks after application from the Union, stating the intended duration of such leave, to a local Union Officer for business purposes provided a suitable substitute can be obtained, or to any employee who may be elected by the Union to a full-time position in any of the C.U.P.E. locals to this Agreement or who is elected to public office. The intended duration of such leave must be specified. It is agreed that such leave of absence shall be renewed upon application providing that such leave of absence shall not exceed a period of two (2) years at any one time or for the term of public office, whichever is the longer. It is agreed that the seniority of any employee so elected shall not be adversely affected and shall accrue during such leave.
Elected Position. A regular employee, who has completed his/her probationary period, who has been elected or appointed to a public position will be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period of not to exceed (2) years. An employee elected or appointed to a position shall not accrue seniority while on leave unless he/she is being paid. He/she will maintain benefits and accruals while vacation, personal or compensatory time is being used. When accrued time is exhausted, employee will be able to purchase health care benefits at the COBRA rate in effect. At the expiration of the leave he/she shall be returned to the job classification that he/she held prior to the leave.
Elected Position. If an Employee is elected to Public or Union Office and is on leave without pay, he or she may return to work under the following conditions: When the end of the term of office for the elected official has been determined and the Employee has decided to return to work with YCUA, the Employee must submit written notification that he or she is wanting to return and that his or her length of time away from YCUA did not exceed his or her seniority with YCUA. He or she will be allowed to fill the first posted position for which he or she meets the minimum qualifications, as determined by the Employer.
