Effect of Absence - Full-time Only. (a) In the event of an employee's absence without pay from the Hospital exceeding thirty (30) continuous calendar days, the employee will not accumulate seniority or service for any purposes under the Collective Agreement for the duration of such absence. The benefits concerned shall be appropriately reduced on a pro rata basis and the employee's anniversary date adjusted accordingly. During such absence the employee will be responsible for full payment of all subsidized employee benefits in which the employee is participating. The employee may arrange with the Hospital to pre-pay to the Hospital the full premium of such subsidized employee benefits for the entire period of the leave to ensure the employee's continued coverage.

In addition the employee will become responsible for full payment of subsidized employee benefits in which he/she is participating for the period of the absence.
Effect of Absence - Full-time Only. (a) It is understood that during an approved unpaid absence not exceeding continuous days or any approved absence paid by the Hospital, both seniority and service will accrue. During an unpaid absence exceeding continuous calendar days, credit for service for the purposes of salary increment, vacation, sick leave, or any other benefits under any provisions of the collective agreement or elsewhere shall be suspended for the period of the absence in excess of thirty (30) continuous calendar days the benefits concerned appropriately reduced on a pro rata basis and the employee's anniversary date adjusted accordingly. In addition, the employee will become responsible for full payment of subsidized employee benefits in which is participating for the period of the absence except that the Hospital will continue to pay its share of the premiums for up to eighteen (18) months an employee in receipt of benefits. g this provision, service shall accrue for the period of (15) weeks if an employee's absence is due to a disability resulting in benefits. Effective April the Hospital will continue to pay its share of the premium up to thirty (30) months while an employee is in receipt of or benefits. Such payment shall also continue while an employee is on sick leave (including the Employment Insurance period) to a maximum of thirty (30) months from the time the absence It is further understood that during such unpaid absence, credits for seniority for purposes of promotion, demotion, transfer or layoff shall be suspended and not accrue during the period of absence. Notwithstanding this -provision seniority shall accrue for a period of eighteen (18) months if an employee's absence is due to a disability resulting in I. benefits or benefits, or for a period of one (1) year if an employee's unpaid absence is due to an illness. Effect of Absence Part-time Part-time employees shall accrue seniority for a period of eighteen (18) months and service for a period of fifteen (15) weeks if absent due to a disability resulting in benefits, on the basis of what the employee's normal regular hours of work would have been.

When enrolled in the modified work program performing hours of work, the employee will continue to accumulate seniority or service for any purpose under this Collective Agreement for the duration of such modified work.

  • Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union or Public Duties An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union or anybody with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority.

  • Effect of Absence Where any leave of absence without pay exceeds thirty (30) continuous calendar days, the following shall apply:

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.

  • Leave of Absence With Pay 1. A leave with pay will be granted when an employee serves on a jury or is subpoenaed as a witness in court. The employee shall claim any jury, witness or other fee to which he/she may be entitled by reason of such appearance and forthwith pay the same over to the county clerk.

  • APPLIES TO FULL-TIME ONLY The scheduling of all off duty days including annual vacation as provided in this Agreement shall be conditional upon the availability of qualified staff to provide efficient and proper care of patients at all times, as required by the Employer.
