Educational Leaves of Absence. The Employer may approve an individual employee's written request for a full-time educational leave of absence without pay for an initial period of time up to two (2) years to work toward an Associates Degree or a Baccalaureate Degree and/or any advanced degree. To qualify for such an educational leave, the employee must be admitted as a full- time student as determined by the established requirements of the educational institution relating to full-time status. Before the leave of absence can become effective, proof of enrollment must be submitted by the employee to his/her Appointing Authority. At the request of the Employer, the employee shall provide evidence of continuous successful full-time enrollment in order to remain on or renew such leave. Such education shall be directly related to the employee's field of employment. Such employee may return early from such a leave upon approval by the Employer. The Employer shall approve or deny the request for leave of absence in accordance with Section B. of this Article. Any denial shall include a written explanation of the denial, if requested by the employee. The Employer may approve a leave of absence for an additional educational purpose under the conditions described in this Section. Employees may also request approval for an educational leave for education which is not directly related to the employee's field of employment. Employees granted a leave of absence under this provision shall not have return rights upon expiration of the leave and shall be so advised before going on the leave.
Educational Leaves of Absence. Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.
Educational Leaves of Absence. Employees covered by this Agreement shall be granted a full-time educational leave of absence without pay for a specific period of time up to one (1) year. To qualify for such an educational leave, the employee must be admitted as a full-time student as determined by the established requirements of the educational institution relating to full-time status. Such employee may return early from such a leave upon approval by the Employer. The Employer may grant a leave of absence in accordance with 12/8/1. 10/8/4 The Employer shall grant the employee’s request for an educational leave of absence. However, the effective date of such leave of absence may be delayed because of certain factors such as the following: A. Operational needs of a department.

An employee denied a medical leave of absence, or extension, shall have an educational leave approved, provided they meet the requirements of this Section. To qualify for such an educational leave, the employee must be admitted as a full-time student as determined by the established requirements of the educational institution relating to full-time status. Before the leave of absence can become effective, a curriculum plan and proof of enrollment must be submitted by the employee to his/her Appointing Authority. At the request of the Employer, the employee shall provide evidence of continuous successful full-time enrollment in such curriculum plan in order to remain on or renew such leave. Such education shall be directly related to an employable classification in the employee's Department. Such employee may return early from such a leave upon approval by the Employer. The Employer shall approve or deny the request for leave of absence without undue delay. Any denial shall include a written explanation of the denial, if requested by the employee. Employees may also request approval for an education leave for education which is not directly related to an employable classification in the employee's Department. Employees granted a leave of absence under this provision shall not have return rights upon expiration of the leave and shall be so advised before going on the leave, however, upon written request, they shall be entitled to have their name placed on the Departmental recall list in accordance with Article 13 provided such request is made within two (2) years of the commencement of the leave. Employees recalled under this provision shall not have such time treated as a break in service.
Educational Leaves of Absence. Associates will be granted Educational Leaves of Absence under the following conditions:
Educational Leaves of Absence. Educational leaves of absence without pay for studying in degree or certificate programs shall be granted to permanent employees who have completed five (5) years of service, for a period of time up to one (1) year, providing the operation of the work unit will not be adversely impacted. Employees returning from an authorized leave of absence shall be employed in the same position or in another position in the same class in the same geographical area and organizational unit, providing that such reemployment is not in conflict with rules relating to reduction-in-force.
Educational Leaves of Absence. Employees may be granted an Educational Leave for a period of ten (10) months for work-related purposes as set out in the Administration Manual 20-02-14.
Educational Leaves of Absence. An educational leave of absence may be granted at the discretion of the Employer for a period not to exceed twelve (12) continuous calendar months. Requests for educational leave must be submitted, in writing, to the employee’s supervisor and must be approved by both the supervisor and the Executive Director. The employee will be responsible for payment of health insurance premiums for any full calendar month of leave. Additionally, if the leave extends beyond thirty (30) days, the employee will not be eligible for an employer contribution to the ICMA-RC retirement program and no other benefit will continue.
Educational Leaves of Absence. An employee with one (1) or more years of seniority shall, upon written request at least sixty (60) days prior to the beginning date of the leave and subject to the following conditions, receive a leave of absence for up to one (1) year to further the employee’s education. When applying for such leave, the employee must present evidence satisfactory to the Company of acceptance as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or vocational institution; and upon completion of each semester or other school term encompassed by the leave, the employee must present satisfactory evidence of continuous attendance at the educational institution as a full-time student during such term(s). The course of instruction pursued must relate to the employee’s em- ployment opportunities with the Company. Such leave of absence may be renewed with the approval of the Company, subject to the same conditions set forth above concerning evidence of acceptance and of continuous attendance at the educational institution as a full-time student.
