Education Incentives. The following incentives are available to employees within this bargaining unit. Those employees who are required through their job description to maintain a listed degree are not eligible for that incentive.
Education Incentives. Effective with the pay period that includes July 1, 2005, each full time permanent employee at the rank of Trooper or higher shall be eligible to receive a five hundred dollar ($500.00) lump sum payment upon submitting adequate documentation of having received a Bachelor of Arts degree in a job-related discipline from an accredited institution of higher learning. The State and the Union shall work with the constituent units of higher education in an effort to develop a job-related degree program for bargaining unit members and to facilitate their participation in Bachelor of Arts courses.
Education Incentives. Each non-probationary employee who possesses or achieves an Intermediate Certificate from DPSST or an Associate's degree or its equivalent (accredited college hours) shall receive four percent (4%) per month in addition to his/her regular salary. Each non-probationary employee who possesses or achieves either an Advanced Certificate from DPSST or a Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) shall receive seven percent (7%) per month in addition to his/her regular salary. Each non-probationary employee who possesses and achieves both an Advanced Certificate from DPSST and a Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) shall receive nine percent (9%) per month in addition to his/her regular salary. For the purpose of this section, lateral hires in the positions of Patrol Deputy and Corrections Deputy may be eligible to receive education/certification incentives in the first full month of employment.
Education Incentives. All employees of the bargaining unit who have been awarded Fire Science or Public Administration Degrees shall receive incentive pay within the first pay period of July of each year in accordance with the following provisions: Compensation for an eligible Associates Degree - Five percent of base salary. Compensation for an eligible Bachelor's Degree - Seven and one half percent of base salary. Compensation for an eligible Master’s Degree - Twelve and one half percent of base salary. Further, employees may participate in a continuing education program in either a Fire Science or Public Administration degree program. Interested employees shall notify the Chief prior to the end of November for the upcoming fiscal year to procure funding. After satisfactory completion, grade C or better, the employee will receive reimbursement within a reasonable amount of time from the Town upon receipt of course credit and submission of an expense voucher for tuition, laboratory costs and books. The Maximum allowable education aid for each employee per contract year shall not exceed $1,500. There is no reimbursement for time spent during the course, mileage, or other expenses. The employee will provide a best guess estimate as to cost.
Education Incentives. Full-time employees completing an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree will receive an incentive, provided the quality of the employee’s work is satisfactory and further provided that advance management approval of the educational program is granted. Eligible employees will receive a lump-sum payment of $2500, subject to the terms of the applicable service agreement as provided in TVA’s Tuition Reimbursement program.

Education Incentives. In addition to the wage rates established by this agreement, the Employer shall pay additional pay for successful completion of degrees/certificates offered in Fire Science, Emergency Medicine, Management, Safety, Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, Building Trades, Mechanics & Engines, and job/position related degrees. See Article 13.2.4 for details.
Education Incentives. The City shall adopt procedures under which an employee shall qualify for educational assistance in an amount not to exceed $4,000 in any one fiscal year, on a reimbursement basis, with a lifetime total accumulation of such assistance not to exceed $8,000. Reimbursement shall be based upon the City reimbursing to the employee 80% of the reasonably incurred cost of education, including tuition, fees and books. Employees seeking reimbursement under this provision are required to receive advance authorization of the City Manager or designee. Education covered by this provision must be job related and taken at a licensed public or private school or college, or a recognized training program leading to a job or professional certification, and shall include both academic and professional certification programs. Post-graduate programs (Master’s degree programs or higher) are not covered without a determination that the program has a relationship to the job performed by the employee, or preparation for a promotional opportunity within the City’s employment. Reimbursement shall be made at the conclusion of a course, upon presentation of evidence of satisfactory completion thereof (grade “C” or better), department head review and approval of the City Manager or designee. This benefit shall be available only for the acquisition of one (1) degree. If an employee voluntary resigns his/her employment with the City or is terminated for disciplinary reasons within six (6) months after receiving reimbursement under these provisions, employee shall reimburse the City for all monies paid him/her for educational reimbursement received dating back six (6) months from his/her termination date. An employee who has reached their lifetime assistance of $8,000 for tuition reimbursement and desires to continue their education may receive a loan from the City utilizing their accrued leave as collateral. In addition, to this educational benefit, the employee may request that the loan be issued to him/her interest-free and shall make such request in writing to the City Manager or his /her designee. The determination that the loan shall be issued to said employee interest-free shall be made upon presentation of evidence that such waiver serves an official City policy or objective, including but not limited to upgrading the educational level and training of the City’s workforce, and enhancing employee morale and loyalty. Education Incentives. Starting October 1, 2016 and after completion of the Firefighter/EMT initial probationary period, or any extension thereof pursuant to this CBA, employees are eligible to receive one (1) Educational Incentive pay increase per year of three percent (3%) upon the successful completion of any two (2) approved educational classes or certifications as specified in Appendix C. They must present to the Chief a valid certificate/transcript verifying they have successfully completed and passed any required examination or educational course(s) listed in Appendix C with a grade of “C” or better, or “Pass” when the standard is “Pass or Fail.” This increase is exclusive of any other increase, provided that the employee’s rate of pay does not exceed the maximum for the range.
